THE REPORT ALIA2 PRESENCE IN THE PRINCIPAL SPANISH MEDIA

The presence of media in the press conference presentation of the “Report Alia2” reflected this, and the following day in the headlines of newspapers and the radio and television programs of our country.

The most shocking aspect of the report, that more than 16,000 Spaniards downloaded child pornography in 2010, was chosen as the headline for the article by the majority of the newspapers. This aside, another aspect which stands out is the fact that Spain is second place in the ranking of countries regarding the possession of this type of material, with 47,742 files or, 11% of the total files found.

“The Report Alia2” also featured on radio and television programs, as much in the midday editions as the evening. The emphasis was on the statements made during the press conference by the three people present: Miguel Comín, Director and Co- founder of Foundation Alia2, Arturo Canalda, Department for the Defense of Minors, in the Community of Madrid; and Juan Salom, Chief of the Unit of Digital Crimes, for the Civil Guard. They were all agreed on the importance of the task to identify the risks and dangers to which children are exposed to on the internet through a better control of users on the web.

The publishing of the “Report Alia2” in the media of our country confirms and highlights the essential work that the Foundation Alia2 does day in day out. Most importantly: through these headlines and news reports, we have been able to carry the message of the Foundation to all of those that didn’t know about the important work that we do. People that, after being aware of our aim, have decided to give us their support and join our cause, which brings a great satisfaction to all of the fine people of Alia2, and a great impetus to continue in the fight for the protection of minors on the internet.
