The Report Alia2, period 2010: SITUATION OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY ON THE INTERNET

Spain is ranked first in Europe and second in the world for the exchange of files via P2P suspected to have paedophilic content. At this time, 61% of the digital crimes that are committed in our country are believed to be of this type. This is one of the conclusions of the study carried out by Foundation Alia2.

After long months of investigations and analysis, the figures obtained by means of the technological tool, Florencio, show that a quarter of the files that are suspected to be paedophilic, circulating on the P2P networks, are uploaded to the network in Spain. Worldwide, the three countries in which the majority of these types of files are exchanged, in order are, United States, Spain and Mexico. This overall situation is clearer when we focus on Europe, with 81% of all the files are uploaded in Spain.

In the search for solutions, Foundation Alia2 is committed to three lines of action. Education in new technologies is one of the fundamental paths to be followed. We believe the distribution of information will help overcome the fears of the use of technology and improve responsible use. We believe the use of computer programs that detect the presence and the exchange of files “P2P” suspected to contain child pornography is also essential. We also offer parents a system of real time alerts when their children navigate to pages not considered suitable for minors. Also, in Foundation Alia2 we consider it fundamental to unite the efforts of the different teams, by means of programs of volunteering and agreements with institutions, companies and ONG. We also collaborate with the security bodies of the state, Mossos d'Esquadra, and Civil Guard.
