Learn more about child pornography with the Alia2 Foundation

Recently the media have started to use terms related to sexual crimes through the internet. Today we will explain who is who in crimes committed through the web with a glossary of definitions extracted from the Alia2 Report.

Child Pornography: Visual representation, images or sounds of minors, of both sexes in sexually explicit behaviour.

Grooming: Attempt to establish of bonds of friendship through the Internet, with a child by an adult with the aim to attain sexual satisfactions by means of pornographic or erotic images  of the minor. Including the provocation to arrange a meeting, generally with deceptions and lies,  that usually results in physical assault to the child.

Ciberbullying: Is the use of Email, Social Networks, Blogs and SMS messages to slander and/or harass, deriving in actual assault. This intimidation takes place between minors. This bullying seeks to upset the harassed, sometimes using a small amount of defamation. This method of harrassment is derived from bullying, practised in schools and colleges.

Sexting: Consists of sending, by mobile phone, messages with erotic or pornographic content. Although it could be a voluntary practice between youngsters, in many cases they do this with people that they only know from the Internet, and it usually ends in extortion of the minors.

Phishing: Is the illicit practice to obtain private and confidential information of a user with the aim to invade their privacy. Usually the offender masquerades as a friend or aquaintence to obtain names and passwords of social network accounts. Although this used to be focused on banking or similar transactions, it is also necessary to warn minors of this type of practice.
